Cathy and Alessandro Pia, Youth Ministry Coordinators
Cathy and Alessandro met at Hillsdale College in Michigan. As students, Alessandro helped lead the middle school youth group at the church he attended, and Cathy was a camp counselor to middle schoolers during her summer vacation. After graduating and getting married, Cathy and Alessandro taught English to middle and high school students in Colorado Springs. When they moved to Portland, they stopped teaching English, but they continue to enjoy spending time with students of that age. Their daughter Evangeline is one yea old, and Cathy and Alessandro enjoy teaching her to love what they do: cooking food, reading books, and spending time outdoors.
Linda Rivas, Children's Ministry Coordinator.
Since becoming a Christian in 1981, Linda has had a passion for working with children. This began with her own four children whom she home-schooled. Since then she has served in various capacities in Children’s Ministry – as a teacher for every age group, a sales associate in a Christian bookstore, a curriculum consultant for a Christian publishing firm, and a coordinator of Children’s Ministries. These all fulfill her passion for children and to “tell the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and His might, and the wonders He has done.” Psalm 78:4
Grateful to still serve in Children’s Ministry at Bridge City, Linda is also enjoying retirement with her husband Fernando, their adult children and young grandchildren, as well as gardening, reading, and beachcombing at the coast.
