Bridge City Fellowship is a community of Christians committed to loving and serving Portland, Oregon, and beyond. We identify with the historic Christian Church which, through the ages, has held to the beliefs expressed in the Nicene Creed. We have also articulated a contemporary expression of those beliefs in our Statement of Faith.

Nicene Creed

We believe in one God, the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth and of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father, Light of Light, true God of true God,
begotten, not made, one in Being with the Father, by whom all things were made;
who for us men, and for our salvation, came down from heaven,
and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and became man.
And He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate,
and suffered, and was buried,
and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures,
and ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of the Father;
and He shall come again with glory to judge the living and the dead;

whose Kingdom shall have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son;
who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified;

who spoke by the prophets.

We believe in one Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come.

Amen.

Statement of Faith

We believe the Bible is the written word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original writings. It is the revelation of God’s truth and is authoritative in all matters of faith and practice.

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons:  Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe that man was created in the image of God; that man sinned, and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also the spiritual death that is separation from God; that all human beings are born with a sinful nature, and therefore are sinners in thought, word, and deed.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, who through His perfect life and sacrificial death, atoned for the sins of all who will trust in Him for salvation.

We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into heaven, and in His present life there for us, as High Priest and Advocate.

We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells God’s people and strengthens them to follow Christ and be increasingly conformed to His likeness.

We believe that Jesus will return, bodily and visibly, to judge all mankind and to receive His people to Himself.
